Rabbit Stew Classic Dish…

Rabbit meat is leaner than beef, pork, and chicken, and it can also be a good source of protein. There are multiple ways you can cook rabbit meat. If you want to prepare that Rabbit meat stew that will get your neighbor popping by just to ask why he/she hasn’t seen you lately… Well, this one here will deliver!

For Ingredients:

  1. 1 full rabbit sliced into pieces(about 1kg)
  2. 1 tsp mixed dry herbs
  3. 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  4. Pinch salt
  5. 1 tsp paprika
  6. 2 tbsp vinegar
  7. 4 tbsp natural yoghurt
  8. 1/4 C vegetable oil for cooking
  9. 3 large tomatoes (chopped)
  10. 1 large onion (chopped)
  11. 1/2 C water
  12. 1 tsp Dark soy sauce(optional)
  13. 1 medium capsicum chopped
  14. Handful chopped corriander/dhania

Steps:

  •    Mix yoghurt,ginger,herbs,salt,vinegar in a bowl
  • Rub the mixture on your chopped rabbit making sure that all the pieces are well covered in a bowl
  • Cover bowl with cling film and refrigerate overnight (8-12hrs)
  • Pour oil into your cooking pan/sufuria /pot for about 30seconds
  • Add your meat piece by piece and turn after 5 minuted or once the sides turn brown
  • Once all the sides are browned, add your onions then followed by your tomatoes. Cover and let cook under medium heat for 5minutes
  • Once the tomatoes are soft..pound them with a wooden cooking spoon and stir to mix with your meat
  • Add 1/2C water and your soy sauce
  • Cover and cook on low heat covered for 20-30minutes until the soup is fully reduced to a thick stew add your cupsicum and dhania and serve with Ugali, mukimu or rice..oh and don’t forget..SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS….tastes Better!!!
